By pheasant I am assuming ringnecks. 7 1/2 will not bring one down unless you are right on top of it. I woud use a 4 shot minimum. My preference are for 3" steel (damn SD GF&P) 3 shot or deuces.
Edit: I completely missed the Ga. I am assuming you use a 12ga, however the same advice still holds for 20ga.
