Well, I can see your icon suggestions. Two things....
1) Ultimately, it's up to Hal. It's his site, so if he feels the icon needs changing he'll be the one to make that decision.
2) Honestly, and don't take this the wrong way, I'm not a big fan of your suggestions. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of the one there is presently either, but I just think your suggestions are too bright or something. I don't know what it is.
and 3) When it comes down to it, I really don't think the little bookmark icon is all that important. Part of the reason I suspect this idea has been overlooked so much is just that there are bigger things to worry about with the running of the site than the bookmark icon
