The Chelsea Hotel has the whole history of every "underground" and artistic generation of NYC as a part of its tradition. Do some searches and you'll see a lot of our cultural icons passed through there.
It's also a cool place and cool part of town to hang around.
I had a studio around the block from it for a few years.
