I am one of "those people" who disagreed from the beginning, but I think it would be foolish to get out now. First we need the help of the world (read: the UN), but for the long-term we need to start getting the Iraqi people back on their own feet, in terms of a viable police force and rebuilding basic infrastructure. The focus should be on giving them a measure of security and then slowly letting them take more responsibility, until they are entirely independent.
