Take the Volvo out on some twisty roads. The ability to take corners without wallowing and plowing and boinging and squealing the tires might make you miss that soft ride a little less.
I'll never forget one time when I was driving a friend's '86 Buick Riviera. I made the mistake of assuming I could keep up with the *potato chip delivery truck* in front of me on a twisty offramp. I kept turning the wheel more and more, it just kept leaning and plowing toward the outer edge of the road with the tires squealing wildly, and almost hit the guardrail. Meanwhile the truck went right on going without a problem. Granted it did have 190k miles on the original factory shocks at the time...
