I've never had anybody say anything deliberately stupid and hurtful, but since my brother died, there are more sensitive subjects that really upset me. I usually cut people slack if, as is usually the case, they say something in ignorance. If they don't know the story, they have no idea that what they just said was very upsetting and caused me pain. It still makes me want to punch a wall.
