If you're meeting royalty, the actual "kiss" is supposed to be a touch of the nose to the hand, not your lips...I guess this is more polite and sanitary(unless you have a cold).
Old-Fashioned etiquette dictates that you should never shake a lady's hand either, unless she offers it to you.
A kiss seems a little forward and creepy to me...forced is maybe the world. But like ARTelevision said, if it's done from the heart, it may not come across that way.
How about a slight bow?
