2 part question about DivX/MPEG
First off, thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge on this forum, it's nice to have a place where i can get intelligent answers for my many questions.
Second off, is there a way to create a digital video file with chapters that are skippable like a dvd? I am not really partial to either DivX, Xvid or MPEG, I think they all are great and suck equally. I understand it is possible to create a file that BSplayer opens simultaniously(?) with the DIVX file that gives it chapter info. The only problem is I don't really like BSplayer, I can't stand players with a separate control panel, i like it all in one window, I use ZoomPlayer.
Is it possible to create a DVD or SVCD MPEG file with chapters and will the player recognize them and how do I go about doing it? I am using Vegas 4.0 for creation, and you can create markers that exist in the media file, but they don't seem to be recognized as chapters.
I would like to create a huge comp of a bunch of clips and be able to skip among them.
Part 2- I seem to be getting this strange effect with DivX files that I create where, while the file is playing (in a media player), if i try to skip to another part on the timeline, The current frame freezes in kind of a "tiling" effect but the motion of the part that I skipped to still plays, and it kind of morphs the frozen frame over it in some crazy colors. It's actually pretty tripped out, but I usually have to stop the file to fix it. It only seems to happen on the second time that i skip ahead in the timeline. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and does it have a name?
Thanks.
