finally, a thread that is close to my heart.
I am unsure exactly how laws work state to state but basically if you're caught tormenting and animal (or owning one and neglecting it) you can be charged with a misdemeanor (sp) and it is sometimes a felony. most of the time people get a slap on the wrist.
as far as FF goes, i think they should be pulled off the air and sued, including the contestants. there is no reason whatsoever to eat anything _live_ it is insanely cruel. could you imagine something 30-40 stories tall raking us in their mouths for _humor_ because we can't communicate with them?
i was watching shock tv on hbo a year or two ago where a woman would swallow live geckos.... i would had paid ever penny i owned and sold all of my belongings to get the chance to beat her shitless.
we kill for food. i am not a vegan (which is why i'm not a member of PETA... not to mention all the nutjobs) and i eat fish and beef and such often. i would hate to do the job myself, but i'm not going to say 'you kill it so my hands are clean'.
the thing is.... if you must eat, you must eat. we all do this. and if you plow down fields, as Ted Nugent once said, you're destroying ecosystems with millions of lives. if you're going to eat, use a quick, easy, clean death. no boiling shit alive or debeaking alive or making calves be forcefed and never sit.... it's just fucking SICK to be so cruel.
um.... sorry. righteous rant. basically, i think if someone willingly hurts an animal for the hell of it they should pay.
i think poachers should have their throats slit, personally.
