That's a terrible idea. It gets rid of the light, but not the problem. Check engine lights usually don't just happen because your car thinks it needs to go to a dealer to rip you off. Check engine lights are the ECU's way of telling you about a problem before it's too late. Yeah, just turn it off, that'll fix it.
