I'd say go ahead and do a combination of the two. I mean, not everyone's gonna wanna play all the time (it is a *social* event), and spectating can be fun too. Plus, you can set up some tournaments, maybe with teams of just a few people. So then you've got 6 or 8 people on the spot who put on a game for others to watch.
