James Brown doesn't do it for me, but Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful" does. I love that he starts out with the second verse:
Oh beautiful for heroes proved
in liberating strife
who more than self their country loved
and mercy more than life
America, America
may god thy gold refine
till all success be nobleness
and every gain divine
I'm not quite sure what that last stanza means, but it makes me think.
