Living in America.
Maybe I'm silly, and perhaps this is a silly post, but does anyone else feel the strong sense of patriotism I do when listening to James Brown sing "Living in America"? Whenever I hear this song, I can put all of the petty dislikes of politics aside in favor of remembering what a great country the US is. There are so many GOOD things about this nation, and the song helps me remember them. Thank you, Mr. Brown.

James Brown doesn't do it for me, but Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful" does. I love that he starts out with the second verse:
Oh beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife who more than self their country loved and mercy more than life America, America may god thy gold refine till all success be nobleness and every gain divine I'm not quite sure what that last stanza means, but it makes me think.

You know, I felt kinda dumb at the time, but there was an episode of "American Idol" last season where all the contestants sang "Proud To Be An American". I remember singing along and getting a little teary.
Didn't help that I was in Canada at the time, hadn't been in the States for over a year. |

no tounge dude, I am serious, I cannot dislike James Brown. I am dead serious. I know for a fact that he ordered two young boys to be at his room when he played i Norway at some point, but then cancelled the order, as his wife wre coming with him. I still love his music though, he is simply too cool for school.
