First off, the lag issues were out of control. Even on a T1 connection, the huge battles were basically unplayable, even with the graphics turned all the way down. It felt like playing a game that was rushed to be released, when really they took years developing it. I was majorly upset about this, and they lost a ton of people the first few months because of this fact.
Then there was the people that would raid your city at 5 in the morning and destroy a whole bunch of stuff. It got to the point where it was like, what IS the point? Take an assload of time farming cash to build up a city just to have it destroyed in your goddamn sleep? People took the game way too seriously.
Plus, it just got boring after awhile. Once you level up, its like... ok, farm cash and fight in laggy battles. Yay. I'd rather play a FPS or something than that game. I dunno, maybe (hopefully!) its gotten better, but im still not paying for a subscription.

I couldn't say it better.
I gave that game more time than I should have. I thought they would get their stuff together....they didn't.
