Go get an SKS in 7.62x39 or a Mosin Nagant in 7.62x54R.
Ammo is cheap (buy Wolf), guns are cheap (You can get an SKS for under $150, MN's for under $90), accurate, and fun.
Check out aimsurplus.com, cdnninvestments.com... and some other websites I can't think of right now. If you have a Big 5 Sporting Goods nearby, they'll probably have Nagants you can go fondle.
Understand these are surplus weapons, some of which are 50+ years old. A blast, though.
