"A inline 6 dosen't require high octane........ "
Thats a pretty vague and inaccurate generalization. I've got an I6 i love, and timing is correct. Both vaccuum advance and mechanical advance are working properly and to specs, yet i still ping more than i would like and sometimes need to go upto 89 octane. A non high-performance i6 shouldn't require high octance in stock and perfect workin order. Any engine with any sort of wear on it or a highperformance engine may require higher octance fuel to reduce pinging if it occurs too much.
