A inline 6 dosen't require high octane........ whats wrong is the timing is advanced to far, at idle it sound and run fine...... even while putting down the road it will seem fine, but when under a load like excellerating, punching the gas or going uphill it will ping because the vacuum advance is advancing the timing beyond specs......
