Black Sabbath for example...Ozzy Osbourne openly admitted that he wanted to become a rock star after he discovered the Beatles. He absolutely loved them. So my point is if it was really and truely shitty music back then (at that time if it wasn't good it wasn't anything)...

Ok, if the Beatles were indeed the REAL, FIRST "rock and roll guys", and pioneered rock as a genre in an otherwise musical wasteland of classical and country, etc., and I don't deny that they were, then it'd be REALLY FUCKING HARD for ANY "rock and roll" guy or group from around that era to NOT cite them as an influence, if not THE influence- and this does nothing to disprove the fact that they are thoroughly mediocre at best. As it's your opinion, I respect you standing your ground- but the theory itself is as thin, loose, and tired as an old whore.
Also, liking a few of their MANY MANY MANY songs (i'm to understand they have made what i'd refer to as a 'shitload' of music) is nothing. There are tons of bands I generally dislike but a song or two sticks out anyway. Are you trying to suggest to me that if i hate a band or group, i cannot like ANY of their songs- that I must hate EVERY note of music they're responsible for? That's a very questionable proposition.

And I would respond, "that fact is irrelevant." If by my saying it's irrelevant, you are able to justify your arrogant supposition of my age having ANYTHING to do with my opinion on why the Beatles were a horrible band, then you would be engaging in stereotyping, which is offensive to me. Please do not shit on my thread and insult the discussion process. Your words are transparent, and your ham-handed attempt to debunk or dismiss my opinions by showing I am "young" are a testament to YOUR holier-than-thou attitude. For the record- I am 22 years old (it's on my profile, if anyone bothers with research) and I appreciate MANY types of music that are of the same era, and many that are much, much older or from places NOT JUST *gasps* in the U.S. or U.K.
Food for thought: If Beethoven's 9th came on the radio and I was sitting near you and said, "I hate that shit", you would easily dismiss me as being young, or not "intellectual" enough to appreciate it, but by assuming and not asking, you're missing out on the fact that, although I dislike Beethoven, I love classical music as a whole, and listen to it all the time. (i don't dislike Beethoven, I love his stuff, i just picked an easy name everyone would know.) That's what happens when you stereotype. Why do people still do this?
