Praise for Eric Gagne
Ok. Gagne is THE MAN. He has 4 awesome pitches that nobody can hit. He now has 2 saves records: Most consecutive saves and most consecutive saves to start a season. He is on pace to break Billy Wagner's K per 9 innings record.
Ever since he's been given his closer role, he has just been a monster. The key is the mentality. When he was a starter, he had to pace himself and he never had any momentum to start the game. It's clear he is a very emotional pitcher and so he thrives at the center of the game's climax. I've been to a few Dodger games when he comes in, and this guy is celebrated more than anyone I can remember.
