Like all living things, humans populations cannot be allowed to grow out of control. The planet has a maximum capacity it can support, and disease is one of the natural mechanisms that control populations. We resist the diseases by developing medications and vaccines resulting in the mutations in the diseases so that they can continue to restrict our population.
In the last few centuries, we have advanced too quickly. Human populations in the last thousand years or so have increased so dramatically that nature needs to find a way to reverse it. Sooner or later, some super virus or bacteria will emerge and probably wipe out a large portion of the human race. It is nature's way, and it is inevitable.
