(Kurt Warner stepping in for an injured Trent Green comes to mind.....and then Marc Bulger stepping in for an injured Warner---weird) When Pennington took over for Testaverde, it actually sparked the Jets. Why would anyone think bringing Vinny back in would benefit NY??

Furthermore, in none of those situations was the backup QB just about 40 years old. You can't pin your AFC East playoff hopes on Testaverde. They've already gone out and signed Todd Husak, and are auditioning Jamie Martin, which says that even they don't expect Testaverde to take every snap until Pennington comes back. Interestingly, they turned down a trade for Mark Brunell. Jax seems ready to give that team to Leftwich. Brunell is 33 and still has a few good years ahead of him as a starter. He has been hampered by nagging injuries but not like Testaverde has.
