Dario Argento never made zombie movies iirc.
he collaborated on
dawn ..., and makes great giallo movies, some of them my all time favourites, but without zombies.
Lucio Fulci made excellent zombie movies : my favourites are
the beyond ,
zombi &
the house near the cemetary. these movies are low on coherent story but great on atmosphere.
I also like the low budget ripp off zombie movies by less talented directors. i remember one with a s.w.a.t. team travelling trough a country/island intercut with stockfootage that is cleary from another era. in the same way they made the weismuller tarzan movies. it's campy, yes , but it's also great fun.
my all time favourite zombi movie would be (the original)
Dawn of the Dead. i still want to live in a deserted shopping mall.
Also in asian cinema there are many examples of zombie movies but i haven't had the chance to see many of them yet.
I saw
Bio-zombie but this was a mediocre comedy featuring light amounts of gore and zombies.
Versus : it's more of a martial arts/gun-play movie, but it features a lot of zombies and is great fun.
junk is reported to be an interested zombie movie but i haven't been able to get the dvd yet.
