You're S.O.L. for my favorite fix because it is NOT for 2K sr2 or XP... repairing IE (or trying to by using the repair function cited above) seems to be the only thing worth trying. It ususally solves many of the glitches... but beware, it'll repair it to the 'as installed' state... you'll have to go back and re-do all the security updates.

For those of you who AREN'T running XP or 2KSr2 (all other windows, including 2KSr1)... you can remove IE entirely with the following:

I've been using it for years. It's especially good to use to remove the installation altogether... or to remove & reinstall it when it gets really hosed because of incompatible .dll levels.

Removing and reinstalling on 98 machines will allow you to effectively remove the friggin active desktop, too.
