hard to know who you can trust with your email account now-days.
i use a hotmail account for suspicious things that require your email to register, like fileplanet.com and apple quicktime.
then i only use my normal email account for things i trust and to give the friends etc.
even my trusted e-mail account started getting spammed to the point where i needed to get another one though, like i say, hard to know who to trust.
