You know, if he tries to pull that shit again, ask him if he'd rather you were mean to him. Ask him if he doesn't appreciate friendliness. Ask him why he should care if he's getting something good out of the deal. (It sucks to get things for the wrong reasons, yes, but every once in a while if it's something this piddly we just need to be reminded that it wasn't like a punch in the nose or anything.)
