If you are trying to <b>block</b> unwanted visitors to your computer via the internet, get a firewall as mentioned above. Zonealarm, Symantec, there are many out there. XP has one built in. I can only speak for the Zonealarm and Linksys (hardware) versions.
If you are trying to control access <b> to</b> the internet by people on your network at home, or individual access, you might look into a router (Linksys).
If certain <b>programs</b> are trying to access the net, use the software firewall mentioned above, or one of your choice.
