Satire is dead.

An image that always brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it, is the "politically correct" Michaelangelo's David wearing a pair of Jeans from the simpsons.

Sadly life imitates art whether we want it to are not.

Controversy Surrounds "David" Statue

Reporter: Jennifer Johnson

Kerry Niehaus is the owner of a replica of Michaelangelo's "David." He spends a lot of time fixing up his Virginia Street home in Evansville. "We're trying to restore the house back to the early 1900's era," says Niehaus.

Several fountains and statues already have a place in the front yard, but Niehaus and his housemate now have a new addition. "I bought it to enhance the yard, I didn't think it was going to cause quite the stir that it has," Niehaus says.

The statue of David arrived at Niehaus' home on Monday.

"We took it out of the crates and put it up in the yard and I guess Thursday I started getting knocks on the door and phone calls from concerned people," Niehaus explains.

But Niehaus says the complaints aren't coming from neighbors, but from some parent's of ARC Center children.

"We've had some concerns, but I wouldn't say it has been a tremendous amount of concerns," says Theo Boots from the ARC Center

Boots says ARC Center employees are talking with its neighbors. "What we asked them on behalf of our parents who are concerned, if they could just a least move it a little bit or turn it. I think that is going to please our parents."

"I don't particularly know what part of the yard I could move it to that it would enhance the house the way it does now," says Niehaus. "Kids are always going to be inquisitive about stuff like that, regardless if its my yard, a museum, library."

Niehaus says he doesn't want to offend anyone, but hopes his statue can stay right where it is.

Earlier, Niehaus had the statue covered with a sheet, but just recently he took the sheet off the saying there was a lot of support to have the statue uncovered.

Niehaus says he doesn't know when they will decide what to do with the statue, but since "David" did cost almost $2,000, he would like the statue to be on display.
Good lord! Won't somebody think of THE CHILDREN..... they might see....they might actually see....a....a.... a PENIS!
