thing is, your body uses fat for energy while you sleep, so after you wake up, you still have fatty acids in your blood until your body restores them and switches over to carbs. if you run in the morning though, that fat will get used for energy and stored. the other energy source it will use will be protein from your muscles. if you haven't eaten, you don't have carbs all nice and ready for your body to burn.
