This is a bit trite, but my wife is a sucker for purple. I have slowly given her a complete set of amethyst jewelry over the years. I got her a big ring (that didn't cost all that much) and hiding it in the pouch of a little stuffed bear I got her. She opened the present and found the bear and gave me a hug and kiss. I had to prompt her to look in the pouch for the "real" present. You can never go wrong with jewelry, but like I said, it is trite. Something sentimental that reminds her of one of your first dates is always good.
