It does happen more often to guys in the first few years of doing it. You eventually get enough practice of "staying hard" and knowing how to do it that it isn't a problem.
Unfortunately, I no idea how that works and hubby doesn't remember any more.
One specific thing: have her put the condom on you. If you do it, you're thinking about unwrapping it, unrolling it, balancing so that you can get on etc. That distracts you from the actual eroticism that's supposed to be keeping you hard.
If she does it, you're thinking "ooo she has nice hands" and other deviant things that will help keep you hard. In other words, putting the condom on should be a part of foreplay.
