I have an Alesis drum machine and a Fostex 4 track recorder. Bought 'em in '92. I've also used a Casio keyboard's rhythm presets for drum tracks. Usually do the drums first, then rhythm guitar then lead, then extra added weird noises such as keyboard set to harmonica or oboe or flute or something not-metal.
The only weird thing is that whenever I try to write a really heavy hard rock/metal thing it ends up sounding like country/western or folk or something. Anything but metal.
It's actually easier for me to work with others, when it comes to music, than to try to come up with everything myself. When I do it all it sounds dry and boring, but when I've worked together with others' it actually ends up sounding like music.
If anyone has any ideas on how to take music currently on cassettes and make them into computer files, feel free to pm me.
