Austin is cool. I go to school i austin. Yay UT
Some things i've learnd about austin.
HEB owns the city. You're usually hard pressed to find any other grocery store around.
6th street is cool, but i myself am always scared off by the parking situations there.
Coffee places close by campus are always full of people. Mozarts by lake austin and enfield rd is pretty popular.
a good way to meet people is to get your two existing friends to gather up a bunch of friends and head off to Saltlick for some BBQ. That place accommodates every big crowds, and even though its pretty far away (30min drive at least from downtown) its well worth the trip. its known to be possibly the best bbq in texas, which translates of course to best BBQ in USA.
Or try to get your co-workers to go to that RPM raceway up in Round Rock. Its pretty fun to go racing those indoor go-karts with each other. i've hit about 22mhp on those things and for those who think thats not too much... without a windshield or wide highways, if feels like 80 or 90mph.
The best way to meet people is to first get good with some co-workers, then meet their friends, etc. If you want to pick up chicks... the closer you hang out by UT campus, the more you'll run into.
Once you meet a girl, there are plenty of parks and restaruants to take a girl out to.
Austin is a great town. The only thing i can say it is lacking of is good or even decent chinese food.
