I just watched it this evening, and loved it. I don't think that you missed anything. The plot is pretty staright forward.
Before I watched it, I thought "Punch Drunk Love" was a pretty weird and meaningless title. Now I realise that it couldn't have been titled better!
The whole film just felt so strange. Like a weird sensation. Like the first time in your life when you got a bit drunk. Visually this film was absolutely stunning. It just added so much to the tone of the film.
The film is mad. It is absolutely crazy. People sometimes seem to do things for no particular reason. This is Barry's view of the world. To him, the world doesn't make sense. Then he means Lena, and suddenly nothing matters.
"I've got so much strength in me right now, you wouldn't believe"
I loved that line. Baary doing somehting he apparently has never done before: Standing up to someone.
I loved the sound and music. It was scored so absolutely perfectly. The music absolutely complemented everything that was on the screen.
Ok. I'm gonna stop right now. I'm just waffling, as I haven't had a chance to properly toss it over in my mind. I'm still a bit "tipsy" from the whole experience! But I adored this movie, I'm gonna make a copy of it, and watch it again soon. I'll post again in a few days, hopefully with a more coherent and well though out, structured reply!
