Serious Modem Problem
I have an Intel v.90/.92 modem in my computer.
As soon as I plugged up a phone cable, I walked into another room to make sure nothing was wrong w/ the line. I picked up the phone and heard the "phone off the hook noise" then unpluged my computer phone cable and the sound was gone. (this is all while my computer is off). So i thought the problem was the modem, I was obviously wrong. Recieved a new modem, under warranty, and tried it out. Same problem. I can't connect because there is "no dial tone" due to a phone being "off the hook" (which there isn't) The only way I can get on the internet is to plug in the cable and immedietly connect. BUT, when I do connect, I get kicked off w/in 2 to three minutes. WHen I am connecting I hear static on the line. And lots of it.
I need this fixed asap, and I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks everyone....
