Da Vinci, in his
Last Supper, depicted Jesus with his 12 disciples. One of them is a woman -- Mary Magdalene, supposedly of Benjamin's line (see picture below). There is speculation that mary was not only
a disciple, but the
Beloved Disciple, and the one to whom Jesus gave the charge of establishing the church. Various "Gnostic" faiths believe this. The early
Johannine Christian community revered Mary as their founder. The
Gospel of John is also actually the Gospel of
Mary, according to some scholars. Mary the Magdalene ("Magdalene" derives from the Hebrew word for "Pillar") -- who knows anything about this, and what do you know?
