ok, well first try was a dud.

here is my config:

AOpen AK72 mobo
Win98se
monitor Logisys LGX710
Radeon 7500 vidcard (PCI)

what I tried to add was my OLD video card:
S3 Virge GX/DX (375/385) (PCI)
and a really old Dell monitor (model no VC-2, from 1991 - still works though)

the problem I had was this: first, before even adding these older components, system manager shows two monitors, even though I had only one connected. It shows a "default monitor" and the Logisys. I have tried to delete the default, but after the required reboot, it just comes back. Right clicking the desktop and selecting the settings tab also shows the same thing (ie. "default monitor on Radeon 7500" AND "Logisys LGX710 on Radeon 7500"). Now, even though the Logisys identifies as the #1 monitor, when I installed the other vidcard and monitor, windoze defaulted to the old dell on the S3 card as the #1/primary.

but of course, that is NOT what I want. I want the Logisys as the default (and therefore #1/primary) monitor and the old Dell on the old vidcard as the #2/secondary.

How can this be accomplished?
