I don't think I've ever been this eager for a series to end. This is quite possibly the most epic fantasy series ever put to print but it's grown to big for it's own good. There are way too many sub plots that hve nothing to do with the main story to keep track of and too many characters to care about anymore.
Pros: A richly detailed world. The main characters are brought to life and fully realized. The main plot is a combination/rehash of several other books and mythology but it works. RJ's storytelling is second to none.
Cons: Too many thigs to keep track of. A sub plot is started in one book but then left hanging for several more before being even mentioned again let alone resolved. Once Rand declared himself the Dragon Reborn the main plot has stalled. The last 2 - 3 books have done absolutly nothing to further the main plot other than tie up a few loose ends. Too many similar supporting characters (do we really need to have 15 different people that sereve the same function in the same way with the only difference is a name and location?).
I'll keep reading until the end but I hope it comes soon. To be honest I was barely able to finish the latest one.
