Pop in the old vid card and hope for the best.
Some old PCI cards don't play well with newer cards and sometimes you have to play with the PCI/AGP init display setting in the BIOS.
Once it's good to go (both are listed without yellow ! in the device mangler), go into display props, select the greyed out monitor and select 'Extend my Windows desktop ... '. Make sure you have both monitors on first, of course, as your PCI may take over as monitor 1. Hit ID display (settings tab as well) to show which is which.
