thats good advice from Vanquish. I'd also run the system file checker programs (start>programs>accessories>system tools>system information, the click the tools tab and select system file checker.
of course, this assumes you are using windows98 (although Id be surprised if XP didnt have something similar)
if you have accidentally deleted some system files, the checker will inform you and you can replace them. be sure to have your disk handy.
