go for it, not only do you only live once, but its a great way to establish bonds - even outside a relationship. I dont have experience myself with the g/f's friend scenario, but as long as shes not psycho-bitter (and Im assuming shes not, from the sounds of it) then there shouldnt be any problems. If you dont hook up, youll at least have a great time.
