Personally, I like it when bands I like get played on the radio/tv/whatever, I like having some other fans to talk about them with. However, I hate it when bands get overblown to a point where they become stereotypical of a genre, or to a point where the fame goes to their heads to a point where they care more about the money than the music, and their music degrades to a point where the band is making millions of dollars to produce crap.
See, I like it when a band I like comes out with one single which gets substantial play, and then kind of fade out, maybe get a little play for other singles, but nothing too huge. This happened for glassjaw, lostprophets, and the Apex Theory, my three favorite bands. I was glad. I like seeing good music do some things, as long as they don't do too much.
Oh yeah, and as far as the Christian thing goes, a lot of really good bands are considered "Christian" to many because of the fact that the band members are practicing Christians. Also, some of them have Christain references in their music (Chevelle, Norma Jean, The Beautiful Mistake). The genre isn't based on one type of music though, just the beliefs of the musicians, so I can't really call it a genre at all.
