i've seen a few virus's that will cause a kernel32.dll error. GOto
Symantec web site and do a on-line scan just to make sure. all so if you computers ever crashed and rebooted when you doing something really stressfull on the cpu it could of crupted your kernel, that usaly only happens if you using the FAT32 file systerm, with NTFS it usaly doesn't crupt file as bad.
