Ok to dispell a few of the myths...
Weight;
3000GT 2nd gen (94-98) ~3900 lbs full tank depending on what options.
Mk4 supra ~3600 lbs.
Speed;
Bone stock 1st Gen 3000GT VR4 mid to high 13's at 100mph with a good driver. 2nd Gen VR4 mid 13's steady with a good driver.
Mild modifications will put you in very low 13's high 12's territory on stock turbos. The fastest out there right now run in the mid to high 10's.
Reliability;
If you find a well taken care of car the reliability should be about the same as and normal sports car. Just make sure to check for the 60k service and T-case recall work. Sticky lash adjusters in these cars cause a ticking noise that is not harmfull but extremely annoying, only fix is replacement of lash adjusters for new style with larger oil holes. Transmission problems are about in these cars just because alot of people beat on them. If you get a clean car that shouldn't be a problem as long as none of the gears grind. The VR4 transmissions are now serviceable since a company named Kormex has started importing and making there own parts for the Getrag AWD transmissions.
The TT versions of the Dodge Stealth and Mitsu 3KGT are very fun cars and reasonable for all year use with AWD. The NA versions came is a few variants, needless to say signifigantly slower and with the added disadvantage of a FF platform. They are still very sporty but limited in that respect. I owned a 1992 Stealth ES for 4 years, very fun car. Capable of high 14's at close to 100mph when I was done with it, but very expensive to maintain because I was not careful in picking it. Mine was beat to hell by the previous owner and I'm sure that had alot to do with the mechanical problems I had while I owned it. I now own a 1992 Dodge Stealth RT/TT. Bone stock high 13's, less that 1000$ later low 13's to high 12's. No mechanical problems yet but I did burn up the clutch fairly quickly just from the added power. I've been very happy with it, and even being 11 years old it hangs with most any car you'll see on the road today. Looks better than many of them in my opinion.
No suggestions here since I'm obviously biased, but I think you'll like any one you get as long as your carefull to pick a well maintained car.
