Second and third the notion that the first two parts of The Godfather are close to the best movies ever put on film

Part III is ok, but felt like a "reunion" movie more than anything else.
Well, I think that like anything else, movies can be roughly divided up into 90% bad, 10% good. You simply can't have 100% good movies... Otherwise Steven Seagal WOULD have to, by definition, be in a good movie

Of course by the time movies get to big international distribution status, the ratio might be closer to 40% good, 60% bad, but I stand by my theory. You never really have all good, you just have relative qualities. Err.. My head hurts now. Just like after watching the matrix.
