I just got an AMD XP1700 and a Abit Nforce 2 Motherboard to run as a home theatre system. The performance and stability is very very good. Easily outperforms my 2Ghz Pentium 4.
People in the tech industry will always have opinions about the long war between AMD and Intel. Theres no clear winner, they are both making fantastic CPU's. You however do get a bigger bang for your buck with AMD and they are stable
