If you are going to live there, don't need to have it with you at all times, theres no Wireless connections, you don't need to network or share info with others, play a lot of games: Get a Desktop.
If you commute, need it with you wherever you will go, theres a wireless network, you need to interact with others in the classroom, don't play a lot of processor heavy games: Get a Laptop.
