They're honey bees, by definition.
The farmer gets his crop fertilized, the bee keeper gets honey. It's documented in an article in the National Geographic magazine about 5 to 8 years ago.
Loading the truck and placing the hive boxes is no biggie, really. These people
know how to handle bees. Apparently, it's not all that tough. There are procedures which make the bees allow it.
According to the article, their main goal is to remain obscure. Incidents like this are exactly what they like to avoid. As has been said here, bees creep some people out.
Personally, I'd rather have bees than wasps and similar. Bees, at least, have a use for humans. Wasps are just annoying at best.
