Either do the test, of if you have like family planning clinics or well woman clinics, they will do the test for you, and it would probably be a good idea for you to know why your periods are irregular. I had a friend didnt have them for a couple of years, but that was because she was skeletal. Is there a chance you could be pregnant? Are you trying to get pregnant?
