somehow i found out about this. i say somehow because there are periods during which i think things like there are only memos so that there are things i am the last to get and only information so that there are things i am the last to know about.
anyway.
this is sorta like nanowrimo (national write a novel in a month) except (a) intermedia---so writers and visual artists of all kinds and maybe some audio (not sure) and (b) no word limits. and it's more interactive. here's the main site for the project:
http://onehundreddays.net/?p=203
this brings you to a directory for all the participants
100 Days 2011
which is possible because one of the rules of the game is that you start a blog dedicated to the project so these interlinks can happen and so that it's easier to track where you are.
i like tumblr. it's very simple. there are lots of layout templates and/or looks you can play with. it's flexible. and it encourages reblogging, which i kinda like (even as it represents a loss of control of the material sort of. reblogging links back to the original, though, so it's kinda footnoted.)
my page is here:
Edge Effects
to differentiate it from my other page, i'm working with the notion of edge effect for these pieces....at this point it's still (a bit uncomfortably) a metaphor. i am interested in making it more a constraint. i have a couple ideas, but we'll see how they work out.
it's not to late to start participate. if you're looking for a structure to push yourself into making a bunch of work in any medium (it's really really not just about writing) then go for it.
folk who participate communicate via twitter and/or by using each other's work as points of departure. which is cool. if folk here want to do the project for themselves, maybe we can use this thread as well.
it's pretty open until you get a project started.
and its a structure without pressure.
post something if you decide to play along.
