Trouble getting erections is the "canary in the coal mine," then.. a clear external indicator of trouble brewing for your cardiovascular system. Good thing, though, is it's entirely reversible. I watched a documentary the other night about epithelial cells lining the major veins and arteries of the body, and how their (known) production of nitric oxide works naturally to inhibit cholesterol buildup. Even better, a number of recent peer-reviewed studies have shown vasoprotective and anti-platelet properties of dietary nitrate (in leafy greens, dark red and purple vegetables) and their bioconversion to nitrite.

I saw this the other night in theaters and it's pretty drastically changed my perception of an "omnivorous" diet, particularly our needless consumption of cow's milk. It's what got me on this kick of research
